Detectives investigate theft of vehicle from Williamstown

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following the theft of a vehicle from Williamstown at the start of the month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the victim’s work vehicle, a 2006 Ford Courier ute, was parked outside his home in Osborne Street, Williamstown, between 8:00pm on 1 April and 3:30am/pm on 2 April.

During that time an unknown offender stole the vehicle, with all of the victim’s tools.

The vehicle was later seen, with one male occupant, at a hotel on Ballarat Road, Deer park about 4.10am on 2 April.

Police spotted the vehicle and attempted to intercept it on Cowra Avenue, St Albans, about 10.40am on 3 April.

The vehicle then reversed into the police vehicle, causing minor damage, before driving off.

No injuries have been reported.

Police recovered the vehicle about 30 minutes later in Hampton Parade, West Footscray.

Detectives have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
