Mill Park Divisional Response Unit detectives are investigating an attempted aggravated home invasion in Thomastown this morning.
Detectives have been told up to five male teens have attempted to gain entry to The Boulevard residence about 5.45am.
A 42-year-old man home at the time managed to fend off the offenders, who were armed with machetes, and demanding his car keys.
The offenders fled empty handed when they were spooked by the victim's neighbour.
None of the occupants, including a 38-year-old woman and three children also home at the time, sustained any physical injuries.
Anyone with information or dashcam/CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
