Detectives release CCTV as inquiries continue into takeaway robbery, NSW

Detectives are appealing to identify a man as investigations into a robbery at a takeaway restaurant in Sydney’s south-west on New Year’s Eve continue, NSW Police say.

About 9.20pm on Saturday 31 December 2016, a man armed with a firearm entered the restaurant on Stockton Avenue, Moorebank, and threatened staff, demanding cash.

The man was unable to access any cash and ran from the store empty-handed.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police from Liverpool Local Area Command attended the restaurant and conducted an extensive search for the man, but he was not located.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad have established Strike Force Tungun to investigate the robbery.

As their inquiries continue, they have released CCTV to appeal for information to identify a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being aged in his late 20s, between 175cm and 180cm tall, with a medium build, blue eyes, dark hair, and short dark facial hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hooded zip-up jacket, with a dark-coloured baseball cap hat under the hood; black tracksuit pants, and dark sneakers with a white sole.

Strike force investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have been near the shops at the time of the robbery and noticed anything suspicious.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
