Detonators Found at Kingston SE: Police Arrests Made

Two people were arrested after police allegedly found gunpowder and detonators during a search of a property south of Kingston SE yesterday.

It will be alleged that while at the address on Thursday 6 August, police located a quantity of gunpowder.

A further search with the assistance of Police Dog Goldie revealed a hidden cache of unlicensed and unsecured explosive items.

SAPOL's Bomb Response Unit was called in and located and seized 11 naval ordnance laboratory (NOL) detonators and seven electrical detonators.

A 48-year-old Mount Gambier man was arrested and charged with firearms offences, including breaches of a firearms prohibition order. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court today, Friday 8 August.

A 24-year-old Mount Gambier woman was arrested and charged with possess ammunition acquired unlawfully and hinder police. She was bailed to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on 8 September.
