Developer Rating Scheme Is Now Open

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The Developer Rating Scheme (DRS) is now open. It is available to renewable energy developers and transmission companies.

Companies that want a rating can contact Equifax Australia. Equifax will carry out the assessments for the scheme.

The DRS supports the delivery of renewable energy projects across Australia. It strengthens accountability, transparency, and confidence in the conduct and capability of renewable energy developers and transmission companies. The Scheme sets clear expectations and provides greater assurance to landholders, communities, and local councils. This allows it to:

  • reinforce responsible developer behaviour
  • support social licence
  • help mitigate delivery risks

Businesses that take part can:

  • be part of a world-first initiative
  • receive an independent rating that shows they can be trusted
  • show publicly that they are serious about doing the right thing. This includes listening to communities, managing impacts properly and being accountable
  • show high levels of openness and trust, helping them stand out as industry leaders
  • show a clear commitment to improving how the sector works with local communities
  • use feedback from the rating to improve their business over time.

The DRS is contributing to Australia's ability to achieve its 82 per cent renewable energy target by 2030.
