This year's Devonport Jazz is gearing up to be a musical feast for all ages, as organisers prepare for the 20th award-winning festival to start next Thursday, 22 July.
Despite some travel restrictions affecting parts of the country, no Devonport Jazz events have been cancelled as a result, and Devonport City Council Events Coordinator and Festival Producer Maree Brodzinski is hopeful all shows will go on.
Ms Brodzinski said organisers would continue to seek advice from the State Health Department and keep an eye on travel restrictions to make sure everyone is kept as safe as possible.
Due to popular demand with performers wanting to take part, Ms Brodzinski said Jazz in the Pavilion at Providore Place would run for an extra two hours from 10am until 4pm, and would be an eclectic celebration of young people and jazz music.
"We have such a fantastic line up for this year's Devonport Jazz with some amazing Tasmanian and local performers," Ms Brodzinski said.
"Our big headline acts in ARIA-Award winners Katie Noonan and Paul Grabowsky will not disappoint and we encourage everyone to grab their tickets now to avoid missing out.
"Katie Noonan will be an intimate acoustic concert with just her on piano and vocals, and Zac Hurren on saxophone. It will be a special combination of material from The Sweetest Taboo, Elixir and Katie's solo albums.
"Our local talent is phenomenal and includes acts like The Projekt, Skit Scat Raggedy Cat and Saucy Jack and His Ripper Band."
Ms Brodzinski said the only cancellation to this year's line-up was the ABC Radio Live Broadcast, which was due to ABC personnel changes, not travel restrictions.
"We understand that people are nervous about booking events in case they are cancelled due to travel restrictions, but we also don't want people to miss out," Ms Brodzinski said.
"It would be a shame if we had to cancel an event because we didn't have enough bookings. If we do have to cancel, people will get a full refund.
"There will be a focus on making sure all the Devonport Jazz events are COVID safe and have appropriate check ins etc.
"We ask that if members of the public are not feeling well, they should stay home and look after themselves. We will advise the public of any changes through our website and social media."
Other program highlights include dinner shows, breaky blues, the Australian Army Band and Musos in the Mall, to name a few.
