TasTAFE's Diploma of Nursing has received accreditation from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) Enrolled Nurse Accreditation Committee.
The Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia will officially endorse the TasTAFE nursing registration at their board meeting in November.
The ANMAC accreditation caps off an extremely successful year for TasTAFE in which the organisation has also gained seven years of registration from the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
This is a great outcome which will see TasTAFE's refreshed and student-focussed Diploma of Nursing continuing to prepare Tasmania's enrolled nursing workforce.
Now that the accreditation process is complete, TasTAFE can concentrate on student outcomes and ensuring students get the best and most up-to-date training.
The accreditation applies for a period of five years to deliver nursing training in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport for places commencing in February.
In this year's state budget we committed an extra $2.9 million for training in priority industries, including nursing. This additional funding will see up to seven new nursing teachers employed and increase student places by 45 per cent.
TasTAFE has transformed its nursing curriculum to provide a consistent and streamlined experience for students, overseen by appointment of a new Head of Discipline.

Despite more lazy Labor scaremongering on TasTAFE and a national five year decline in apprentice and trainee activity, Tasmania continues to perform better than the Australian average across most key indicators.
Trade apprentices and traineers are up 10.4 per cent in Tasmania in contrast to a national 0.6 per cent decrease, a far cry from the conditions under the Labor-Green Government who destroyed the training facility.
These statistics and latest accreditation shows that the Governments plan for TasTAFE and indeed Tasmania is working, and we will continue to deliver.
