Director-General condemns killing of news journalist Jeff German in US

UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay has condemned the killing of journalist Jeff German in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) on 3 September.
I condemn the killing of Jeff German. His death is a blow for press freedom and for all those he served as a reporter over decades. I call on the authorities to investigate this crime to establish its motives and bring its perpetrators to justice.

German, a respected veteran news reporter who covered topics such as organized crime and corruption for the Review-Journal, was stabbed fatally in an altercation outside his home.

UNESCO promotes the safety of journalists through global awareness-raising, capacity building and by coordinating the implementation of the UN Plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
