Book lovers and bargain hunters are invited to the much-loved Friends of the Library Book Sale, returning in 2026 to Wagga Wagga City Library later this month.
The annual event will be held in the downstairs children's area of the Library – located in the Civic Centre – on Friday 20 February between 4pm–6pm, and Saturday 21 February, 9am–12pm.
Packed with donations and retired library stock, the sale will feature something for everyone, from adult fiction and non-fiction to children's and young adult titles. Some special vintage items will also be on offer.
Prices are $3 for adult books, $2 for children's books, or fill a bag for $20.
Library Services Manager Christine Bolton says the sale is about more than just picking up a great read at a great price.
"This event brings our community together, giving everyone the chance to find books they love at bargain prices while also supporting the library through the fundraising efforts of the Friends of the Library," Ms Bolton said.
"Many quality items will be on offer this year, and along with our Friends, we're excited to help people give a second life to books still in excellent condition."
Ms Bolton confirmed that "all sale proceeds will go to the Friends of the Library, who have supported Wagga Wagga's library programs and services for over 30 years".
Funds raised to date have already helped deliver initiatives such as One Book One Wagga, the Language Café, author talks, community presentations and a new microfilm reader.
Friends President Suzanne Houghton noted that the group is particularly excited about the growing number of kids and young people attending the event each year.
"One of the best parts of the sale, aside from making great books more accessible to own, is encouraging the younger readers in our community," Ms Houghton said.
"We always love seeing them come along to find a treasure or two, and we're equally excited for what book lovers of all ages and interests can look forward to at this year's event."
