Disobey road block, refuse breath test; man charged in Tathra

A man has been charged after he disobeyed a Traffic Controller manning a road block in Tathra yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 6.30pm (Monday 19 March 2018), Traffic Controllers were manning a road block on Andy Poole Drive, Tathra.

A vehicle approached the Traffic Controller who signalled for the driver to stop. The vehicle continued around the Traffic Controller and headed south on Andy Poole Drive.

Police were alerted to the vehicle and officers from South Coast Police District pulled the vehicle over.

Officers spoke with the 71-year-old driver and attempted to submit him to a breath test. The driver allegedly refused to supply a sample of his breath which lead to his arrest.

He was taken to Bega Police Station where he was required to undergo a breath analysis.

Officers allege the man again refused to supply a sample of his breath.

He was charged with refusing a breath test, refuse breath analysis, drive while suspended and not obey direction of Authorised Person.

His licence was suspended.

He was given conditional bail and will appear in Bega Local Court on Tuesday 10 April 2018.
