Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services the Honourable Mark Ryan MP joined Commissioner Katarina Carroll today for the annual District Crime Prevention Co-ordinators Conference at Police Headquarters.
The three-day conference is aligned with the three pillars of the 2019 – 2023 Crime Prevention Framework.
There are currently 52 district crime prevention co-ordinators (DCPC) across Queensland located throughout the Service's 15 districts.
The conference will provide officers with the opportunity to engage in a number of different presentations focused on the topics of victimology, research and evaluation and crime prevention through environmental design.
Commissioner Carroll said she considered the 52 DCPCs throughout the state, Queensland's crime prevention content experts.
"These officers play a pivotal role in identifying and analysing crime and policing issues throughout Queensland," Commissioner Carroll said.
"The QPS will continue to support our DCPCs in their efforts to strengthen and connect our communities to ensure a safe and secure Queensland for all.
"I applaud participants for the work, time and effort they put into making Queensland communities safer."
Minister Ryan said the DCPCs from across the state helped strengthen community relationships and promoted a shared sense of safety within communities.
"Crime prevention officers continue to grow and maintain a strong focus on crime prevention and building community relationships," Minister Ryan said.
"I praise the efforts of our DCPCs who work tirelessly to prevent crime and continuously aim to improve the safety of Queensland communities."
