Time is running out to enter the Blacktown City Diwali Lights Competition with nominations for the colourful celebration of culture and community closing on Friday 30 October.

The Blacktown City Council competition encourages people to create vibrant and imaginative displays that showcase the spirit of the South Asian festival while sharing its message of hope, goodwill and the triumph of light over darkness.

Blacktown City Mayor Brad Bunting said the 10th year of the competition was a wonderful opportunity to be part of the spirit of diversity that makes Blacktown City a welcoming community.

"Diwali is a significant celebration for many members of our community and an opportunity for everyone to learn about the traditions and cultures that help make Blacktown City a vibrant place to live," Mayor Bunting said.

"We are proud to celebrate our many cultures and faiths and I encourage people of all backgrounds to get involved and show their creativity."

Prizes are on offer for the best decorated homes across Blacktown City's five wards.

Residents wishing to enter can find competition details, eligibility requirements and entry forms at Diwali Lights Competition - Blacktown City.
