Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 now online

The City of Stonnington's Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 (DAMP) is now available online for your reference. A snapshot of key points and priorities is also available; both documents can be downloaded as PDFs.

The DAMP is a comprehensive framework for the efficient delivery of Council's Animal Management services over the next four years, and will serve to guide the community of Stonnington on the principles of responsible pet ownership, and Council's commitment to regulations and enforcement.

An extensive community consultation process was undertaken to gather feedback and ideas around the City of Stonnington's Animal Management services and to help shape the Plan.

With the increase in dog ownership seen since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, feedback received indicated a greater need for safe off-leash parks, as well as more well-defined on-leash zones that cater for both dog owners and the rest of the community. Education and training of responsible pet ownership and a greater focus on community safety were also raised as priorities.

Thank you to all who provided feedback and contributed to the development of the Plan.
