A woman and her five-year-old son were assaulted during a domestic violence incident in Alice Springs early this morning.
About 3:26am, the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received a report that a 31-year-old woman had been seriously assaulted at a residence in a town camp.
Police attended and were advised by the relative who had contacted police, that the woman and her five-year-old son had allegedly been assaulted by the woman's 32-year-old partner, who is also the child's father.
It is alleged the offender repeatedly struck both victims with a metal push scooter.
While speaking with the relative, police heard a woman screaming in nearby bushland.
Members immediately attended and located the 31-year-old victim who had sustained a laceration to the top of her head and significant swelling to her right arm and right leg.
The five-year-old child was also located with a laceration to the top of his head.
The woman told police the offender had fled the scene.
Both victims were taken to Alice Springs Hospital by St John Ambulance for treatment.
There is a current full non-contact Domestic Violence Order in place between the offender and the victim.
The offender remains outstanding, and investigations are ongoing.
