Don't get stung - Know Scam!, South Australia

Police are today launching a new webpage, 'Know The Scam', that aims to educate South Australians about currently circulating scams, and the evolving tactics used by scammers to dupe potential victims.

The page will feature examples of recent reports, to highlight that people from all walks of life fall victim to scam activity.

Sergeant Jonathon Newman, of Cybercrime Training and Prevention, says that recognising current scams, and having up-to-date information on scammers' methodologies, is the best means of protecting yourself.

'We're hopeful that this page will enable members of the public to identify the scam before it's too late, and in turn, be able to protect themselves from potential financial losses, identity theft, and the associated emotional distress that follows.'

Be sure to check back regularly, as the page will be updated as local trends are identified.
