Hunter Local Land Services is urging eligible landholders affected by last summer's devastating bushfires to apply for support to replace boundary fences with Crown Land.
Under the NSW Government's Supporting our Neighbours Fence Program, landholders who lost boundary fencing bordering public lands during the 2019-20 bushfire season could be eligible to receive a grant of up to $5,000 per kilometre to purchase fencing materials through the Supporting our Neighbours program.
The devastating bushfires of last summer affected 19 per cent of the Hunter Local Land Services region, including 207,000 ha of private properties.
Regional Coordinator Daniel Trudgeon says so far, the Supporting our Neighbours program has assisted more than 350 local landholders.
"Under the program more than 528km of new fencing has been funded so far, for landholders who lost fences adjoining crown land in the spring or summer of 2019/2020, for a total of nearly $3million," said Daniel.
"This is one of the easiest support programs you will come across as we have a team of dedicated fencing coordinators to walk applicants through the entire process.
"Applications are closing on Wednesday, 31 March 2021 so we are encouraging landholders to lodge their applications as soon as possible so they don't miss out."
