Drink driver and passengers arrested over northern suburbs break-ins, SA

Police have arrested three people for three northern suburbs break-ins after a routine traffic stop at Elizabeth South this morning, according to SA Police.

Police stopped a car on Philip Highway about 12.30am on Thursday 24 November and breath tested the man driving. He allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.140 and was reported at the Elizabeth Police Station for drink driving and driving disqualified. 17/X53182

As police were returning to the scene to impound the man’s car, they received information that the vehicle had been reported stolen from a break-in on Kirk Street at Smithfield.

Police returned to Philip Highway and discovered the stolen car had gone but was located outside a house a few streets away. A man and a woman, who were passengers in the car when it was initially stopped by police, were found with the car.

Police subsequently searched two homes in Elizabeth South and located property alleged to have been stolen from break-ins at Carrama Crescent and Nyenna Court at Munno Para.

A 24-year-old man from Port Augusta, a 43-year-old man from Elizabeth South and a 42-year-old woman from Elizabeth South were charged with three counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, three counts of theft, illegal use and unlawful possession.

The two men have been refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today. The woman will be bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 10 January 2017.
