Drink driver caught speeding in Glen Waverley

A P-plate driver was caught drink driving and speeding with six passengers on board at Glen Waverley this morning, Victoria Police say.

Nunawading Highway Patrol officers detected a Toyota Yaris sedan travelling at 130kmp/h in a 100km zone on the Monash Freeway just after 7am.

Police intercepted the vehicle and discovered the driver had two passengers in the front seat and four passengers in the back, and all not wearing seatbelts.

The 25-year-old female driver returned a positive preliminary breath test and was taken to a police station where she returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.072.

The Cranbourne woman had her licence immediately suspended.

She is expected to be charged on summons with exceed speed, drink driving, p-plate passenger restriction breach and overloaded vehicle.
