Drink driver collides with traffic lights, SA

A man has been reported after allegedly leaving the scene of a crash at Gawler last night, according to SA Police.

A Gawler police patrol discovered that traffic lights had just been hit by a car in Murray Street around 11.40pm on Saturday 8 July, however, the offending vehicle had left the scene.

Witnesses pointed out the direction of travel of the car and the patrol located a vehicle at Sandy Creek.

The driver, a 51-year-old Lyndoch man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.201, more than four times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving and aggravated driving without due care and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

He also lost his licence on the spot for 12 months.
