Drink Driving - Alice Springs

A 31-year-old woman who provided a blood alcohol reading four and a half times over the legal blood alcohol limit, has been arrested and charged.

The woman was arrested after providing a positive reading of 0.230 BrAC after a random breath test on Lovegrove Drive around 12.23 this afternoon, Northern Territory Police say.

Sergeant Conan Robertson of the Southern Traffic Operations Unit said the result was disheartening.

"It’s disappointing this person even got in the car, let alone behind the wheel and drove."

"This Random Breath Test was conducted within a designated school zone, directly out the front of a school."

"I cannot stress enough to motorists that you are not just putting yourself in danger but all other road users as well"

"As a community we can no longer accept this type of behaviour and we need to discourage our family and friends from taking these risks."

A court date is yet to be set.
