Drink Learner Driver in CBD

A Learner driver has had his licence cancelled after being detected drink driving in the city this morning., Victoria Police say

Operations Response Unit members observed the Avondale Heights man driving down the wrong way in Little Bourke Street from Russell Street about 5.15am.

Members then observed him make a three-point turn before intercepting the Mazda 3 sedan.

The 28-year-old returned a positive PBT at the scene and was later breath tested at Melbourne West Police Station and provided a reading of .101 per cent.

He was issued with a $661 ticket for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol and his licence was cancelled for 10 months.

The man is likely to receive further penalty notices for other offences at a later date.
