Drive through, drive away

A man has been arrested following an incident in Springvale last night, Victoria Police say.

Police first attempted to intercept an erratically driven vehicle on Princes Highway, Mulgrave at about 9.50pm last night.

The vehicle allegedly took evasive action and fled after throwing an item at the police vehicle.

The vehicle then travelled south before entering the service slip road on Princes Highway where another police vehicle was stopped.

The Magna then allegedly side swiped the police vehicle before continuing south in Springvale Road, Springvale.

The driver of the police vehicle received a minor injury.

The Magna was again observed by police driving in an allegedly erratic manner at about 10.10pm.

The vehicle then drove into the drive-through of a take away restaurant at the Springvale Junction.

Police attempted to speak to the driver who allegedly attempted to flee, striking and causing damage to part of the restaurant and a stationary car.

A 20-year-old Narre Warren man was arrested and is expected to be charged with a number of offences including evade police, discharge a weapon, speed dangerous, careless drive, fail to stop after an accident, fail to render assistance after an accident, possess drug of dependence, refuse breath test and several other traffic offence offences.
