Driver arrested following fatal crash at Stockwell , SA

Major Crash Investigators have arrested a driver involved in fatal crash, that tragically claimed the life of small girl at Stockwell yesterday afternoon, according to SA Police.

Just before 4pm, a Hyundai SUV and a Mitsubishi 4WD both travelling on Duck Pond Road collided head-on.

An 8-year-old girl who was seated in the rear of the Hyundai was treated at the scene, but sadly the young girl from Kilburn died at the scene.

A 28-year-old woman from Kilburn, and two girls aged 16 and 12-years-old both from Pooraka, who were all passengers in the Hyundai, were taken to hospital with serious but non- life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai a 40-year-old man from Dandenong Victoria, was arrested and charged last night with cause death by dangerous driving. He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The driver of the Pajero a 29-year-old man from the State's mid-north and four passengers which included three children were treated for minor injuries.

Major Crash Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle prior to the collision to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The young girl's death bring the State's road toll to 66 compared to 72 at the same time last year.
