Driver blows five times legal limit after crash at Nowra

A man has been charged with high-range drink driving after allegedly being caught more than five times the legal limit on the state's South Coast yesterday.

About 4pm (Wednesday 26 January 2022), emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, Nowra, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and found a hatchback and an SUV – both travelling south – had collided on the highway. There were no injuries.

When the driver of the hatchback – a 40-year-old man – returned a positive roadside breath test, he was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station. A breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.258.

The driver was charged with high-range PCA, and had his licence suspended and vehicle impounded.

The Ryde man was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear in Nowra Local Court on Monday 28 February 2022.
