Driver Charged After Fatal SUV Collision in Cabramatta

A driver has been charged after a man died when hit by an SUV in in Sydney's south-west yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Hughes Street, Cabramatta, about 4pm (Friday 8 May 2026), after an MG ZS left the road and struck a man walking along the footpath.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 81-year-old man; however, he could not be revived and died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV – a 51-year-old man – was not injured and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

On release, the man was taken to Cabramatta Police Station where he was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

The man has been granted conditional bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court on 3 June 2026.
