Driver Charged After Haberfield Complaint

A woman will face Court after being charged following an investigation into a driving incident in the M8 tunnel at Haberfield yesterday.

Strike Force Puma was established in 2018 as part of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, targeting high-risk and repeat traffic offenders and those posting videos on social media exhibiting poor driving behaviours.

Officers from Strike Force Puma became aware of a video of an incident involving a white Hyundai Elantra sedan suspected to have occurred in the M8 WestConnex tunnel at Haberfield on Thursday 8 January 2026 and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 1.20pm today (Friday 9 January 2026), police arrested a 23-year-old woman.

She has been charged with two offences – driving in a manner dangerous and drive with three passengers with seatlbelt/restraint not properly fastened.

The woman's driver's licence has been suspended for 14 days.

She is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 27 January 2026.
