Driver charged after head-butting officer in Mackay, QLD

A 30-year-old Andergrove man has been charged with several offences following a traffic intercept made by police on Mackay-Bucasia Road at Rural View yesterday, Queensland Police say.

It is alleged that around 11.50am, following a road-side breath test, the man was detained and transported by police to the Mackay police complex breath analysis section for a further test.

Whilst in the testing room it is further alleged that the man became aggressive and punched a filing cabinet with a closed fist.

When officers moved to restrain the man he allegedly head-butted a male officer.

At the conclusion of all testing procedure, the man was arrested and charged with failing to supply a specimen of breath for analysis on requirement, driving whilst under the influence of liquor and assaulting a police officer.

He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on October 20.
