A male driver has been charged after a passenger in his vehicle was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in the state's Southern Highlands late year.
About 10.30amon Tuesday 23 December 2025, emergency services were called to Eliza Champion Street, Bungonia, following reports of a single vehicle crash.
Officers attached to The Hume Police District arrived to find a Toyota SUV had lost control near Mountain Ash Road and rolled onto a shed on a property in King Street.
Three men – believed to be aged in their 20s – were trapped inside.
Fire and Rescue NSW and Rural Fire and Rescue assisted in releasing the driver and passengers.
NSW Paramedics treated the men before two were airlifted to Canberra hospital in a serious condition, with suspected head and spinal injuries. The third man was conveyed to hospital with minor injuries.
Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Following inquiries, about 2.30pm on Saturday 28 February 2026, a 28-year-old man was arrested by CIU investigators at Wollongong Police Station. He was charged with six offences - aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – speed more than 45km/h, aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - PCA, exceed speed by more than 45km/h, high range PCA, cause injury by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear at the Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 22nd of April 2026.
The man's driver's licence was also suspended.
