A woman has been charged over a crash involving her car and a train on the Mid North Coast earlier this year, NSW Police say.
Emergency services were called to Henrys Lane, Moorland, 25km north of Taree, about 11am Thursday 21 April 2016, when a Commodore station wagon was hit by a freight train.
A 30-year-old woman was the driver of the car carrying her three daughters.
Her seven-year-old daughter, travelling in the front passenger seat, and her two-year-old daughter, travelling in the middle rear seat suffered critical head injuries.
The woman and her five-year-old daughter, who was seated behind the driver, escaped with relatively minor injuries.
All were airlifted to John Hunter Hospital; the most seriously injured girls are receiving on-going treatment
Following an extensive investigation by the Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit, the driver was charged last Friday (24 June 2016). with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and one count of negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm. Her driver’s licence has been suspended.
She was granted bail to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 4 August 2016.
