A man has been charged after a child died, and three people were hospitalised following a two-vehicle crash on the Far South Coast in May this year.
Emergency services were called to Towamba Road, Nullica, 10km south-west of Eden, about 4.10pm on Tuesday 13 May 2025, after an LDV dual-cab utility and Kenworth tipper truck collided.
A six-year-old boy, who had been a passenger in the utility, died at the scene.
The driver, a-31-year-old man, and two girls – aged two and eight - in the same vehicle, suffered multiple injuries.
The driver was airlifted to Canberra Hospital while the two children were airlifted to Sydney Children's Hospital.
The truck driver, aged 52, was taken to South-East Regional Hospital at Bega for mandatory testing and to be treated for the effects of shock.
The crash scene has been examined by officers attached to the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit, who commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Following extensive inquiries, police attached to Crash Investigation Unit issued the 31-year-old man with a Court Attendance Notice today (Tuesday 9 December 2025) for five offences,
- Dangerous drive occasioning death
- Dangerous drive occasioning grievous bodily harm
- Negligent drive occasioning death
- Negligent drive occasioning grievous bodily harm
- Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle
The man's driving licence was suspended, and he is due to appear before Eden Local Court on Wednesday 4 March 2026.
