A driver who allegedly submitted a fraudulent insurance claim is the thirteenth person charged by detectives investigating Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance fraud., NSW Police say
In August 2016, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Fraud and Cybercrime Squad established Strike Force Ravens to investigate syndicates targeting the CTP insurance scheme following recommendations of the CTP Task Force.
The CTP Task Force is a NSW Government initiative coordinated by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA), involving representatives from various government agencies and legal, health, and insurance sectors.
As part of ongoing investigations, Strike Force Ravens detectives arrested a 24-year-old man at Liverpool Police Station about 12pm today.
He was charged with 12 counts of fraud.
The Liverpool man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 13 September 2017.
Police will allege the man was the driver of a vehicle involved in a staged crash at Liverpool on 6 May 2015 and submitted fraudulent insurance claims for the occupants of the vehicle.
The total value of the fraudulent claims was more than $1.1 million.
To date, Strike Raven investigators have arrested 13 people and laid more than 100 charges in relation to a combined fraud of more than $11 million.
Investigations are ongoing and further arrests are expected.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to CTP Green Slip fraud to call Crime Stoppers.
