Driver critical after crash at Forbes

A man remains in a critical condition following a car and truck crash in the state's Central West yesterday.

Just after 5.30pm (Monday 22 March 2021), emergency services were called to Sherriff Street near Dowling Street, Forbes, after reports a Suzuki Vitara and a B-Double truck collided.

The driver of the Suzuki, an 18-year-old man, was trapped before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW. He was taken to Parkes Hospital before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Two 17-year-old passengers in the Suzuki were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics, and one was transferred to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of a truck – a 65-year-old man – was taken to Forbes Hospital for treatment of shock, and mandatory testing.

Officers from Central West Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway, and anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV or information are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
