Driver detected speeding and drink-driving in school zone in North Parramatta

Police have charged a man with speeding more than 30km/h above the speed limit and low-range PCA after he was stopped in a school zone in Sydney’s west today, NSW Police say.

Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were at Pennant Hills Road, North Parramatta, just before 9am today when they detected a Toyota Camry being driven at an alleged 80km/h in the 40km/h school zone.

Police immediately activated lights and sirens and directed the driver to stop before subjecting him to a roadside breath test. It will be alleged he returned a positive result.

The 49-year-old man was placed under arrest and taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he allegedly returned a positive breath analysis of 0.066.

He was issued a court attendance notice for the offences of exceed speed limit over 30km/h – school zone, and drive with low-range PCA.

He is expected to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 18 January 2017.
