The driver of a car involved in a fatal crash at Birdwood last month has died in hospital.
At 1.40pm on Tuesday 24 March, police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Warren Road and Lucky Hit Road after reports a truck and a Toyota sedan had collided.
Tragically, three passengers in the sedan, died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota sustained life‑threatening injuries, while a fourth passenger was seriously injured. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver of the truck was not physically injured and is assisting police with the investigation.
Major Crash investigators attended the scene and continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Sadly, the car driver, a 73-year-old man from Blakeview, succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital today, Saturday 18 April.
The driver's death is the 36th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year.
