Driver Dies After Car Hits Fallen Tree At Cowra

A man has died after his car struck a fallen tree in the State's south this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Lachlan Valley Way at Cowra shortly before 3am (Thursday 2 July 2026), after a car, being driven by an 81-year-old man, hit a tree which had fallen blocking the road.

The driver and sole occupant died at the scene. It's believed he is from the ACT.

The area had been impacted by a storm and SES members were working nearby to clear the road when the crash occurred.

A report for the information of the Coroner will be prepared by officers attached to Chifley Police District.
