Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal single vehicle crash which occurred in Woodend this morning.
It's believed the driver lost control of his vehicle, which left the road and hit a tree on The Avenue of Honour about 6.35am.
The driver and sole occupant, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
The Avenue of Honour is closed to traffic between Savages Lane and the Calder Freeway until further notice.
