Driver dies in Wallington collision

A driver has died during a two car collision at Wallington overnight, Victoria Police say.

It’s understood a Holden utility was travelling north along on Grub Road when it collided head-on with a Honda sedan, at the intersection of Cerberus Drive, about 12.25am.

The driver and only occupant of the Honda, who has yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver and only occupant of the Holden, an 18-year-old Ocean Grove man, was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries.

It’s believed the Holden had been stolen shortly beforehand and was involved in minor collision at the intersection of Shell Road just moments before the head-on collision.

No injuries have been reported as a result of that collision.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are currently on scene.

Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
