Driver of Porsche charged with speeding in Leppington

The driver of a Porsche has been charged with speeding and drink driving after he was caught allegedly travelling nearly 190km/h at Leppington early this morning, NSW Police say.

About 2.20am (Saturday 9 June 2018), Macquarie Fields Highway Patrol officers were patrolling Camden Valley Way when they noticed a Porsche Cayenne allegedly travelling in excess of the 80km/h signposted area.

Police estimated the vehicle to be allegedly travelling between 180km/h and 190km/h.

When police stopped the car, the driver produced a provisional licence. He was subjected to a breath test, which proved positive.

The 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to Eagle Vale Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis returning a reading of 0.075.

He was charged with drive speed dangerous, exceed speed limit, use unregistered vehicle, not display P plates and low range PCA.

Police confiscated the man’s drivers licence and the registration plates.

He was issued with a court attendance notice to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on 9 July 2018.

Operation Stay Alert begins on Friday 8 June 2018 at 12.01am and concludes at 11.59pm on Monday 11 June 2018 and double demerits will apply throughout the four-day operation.
