Drivers suspended for excessive speed, NSW

Police have stopped two vehicles in western Sydney after they were detected travelling more than 45 km/h over the speed limit, NSW Police say.

About 7pm on Friday (2 March 2018), police were conducting speed enforcement duties on the Great Western Highway, Prospect when they detected a gold-coloured Holden Commodore displaying red provisional plates travelling at 135km/h in an 80km/h speed zone.

The driver, a 17-year-old man, was issued with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h and his licence was suspended for six months.

About 9.50 am today (Monday 5 March 2018), officers from the Child Abuse Squad were travelling west in an unmarked police vehicle on the M4 Motorway when they detected a Subaru Forester travelling at an estimated speed of 160km/h.

Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Motorcycle Response Team attended and issued the driver, a 28-year-old man, with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h. His licence was suspended on the spot for six months and his vehicle registration plates were confiscated for three months.
