Driving business growth in Tasmania

Peter Gutwein,Minister for State Growth

Tasmania's small businesses are one of the state's key drivers of jobs and investment growth, and we are further strengthening our focus on small business through the launch of the new Tasmanian Business Growth Strategy 2019-2023.

The Strategy is a collaboration between government and industry, represented by the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Tasmanian Small Business Council.

This new Strategy will help grow our businesses and support the establishment of new enterprises with support and training for businesses and their employees.

The 37,300 small businesses currently operating in Tasmania are key to getting and keeping Tasmanians in work and driving grassroots investment, which underpins our economy and helps our communities prosper. The Hodgman Liberal Government will continue to strongly support small business to thrive in Tasmania.

There has been widespread consultation in developing the Strategy, with more than 180 businesses and community members contributing to identify five key priority areas aimed at making it easier to do business in Tasmania, helping businesses get established and grow, while removing the barriers that Tasmanian businesses struggle with.
