Driving Visitation: Record Numbers for Red CentreNATS

Thefifth annual Red CentreNATS has attracted more entries and spectators to AliceSprings than ever before with 861 entries from across Australia and 16,468attendances last weekend.

From30 August to 1 September, Red CentreNATS 05 showcased over $80 million worth ofcars and featured entertainment across three venues; Blatherskite Park, AliceSprings Inland Dragway and Lasseters Hotel Casino.

Newfor 2019, the Heavy Hitter drag racing feature category saw 20 of Australiasfastest drag cars battle it out to win more than $10,000 in prize money.

Social media provided great viewing for those whocouldnt be there as the Red CentreNATS Facebook page had 127,000 drag andburnout video views.

Otherhighlights included the Burnout Masters, trophy karts competitions, a packedshownshine, grass driving challenges, dyno battles, elite show carspavilions, and a 4WD course.

Thousandsof people turned out for the street parade which saw hundreds of modified andcustom vehicles cruise through the heart of Alice Springs in a spectacle ofcolour and noise

TheRed CentreNATS Grand Champion, Burnout Masters Champion and an array ofother awards were announcedat the ever-popular Podium Party which featured DJ Hot Dub Time Machine.

Brent Murray took out the title of Red CentreNATS05 Grand Champion with his 1968 Dodge Dart EVL 68, Casey Tolcher won theBurnout Championship in his 1985 VK Commodore Sedan HI RI2K and WarrenGersekowski won the Burnout Masters in a 1971 Holden HG Ute 1 TUF HG.
