Cessnock LGA residents will soon have another chance to legally dispose of unwanted mattresses, as part of Cessnock City Council's free mattress drop-off program.

Mattresses and ensemble bases can be taken to Mount View Basin, 197 Mount View Road, Cessnock – between 8am and 12pm on Saturday 18 October 2025.

It will be Council's final mattress drop-off event for this year, with the next planned for February 2026.

Each household in the Cessnock LGA can dispose of up to four mattresses or bases as part of the recycling program. Proof of residence in the Cessnock LGA is required in order to take part.

Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton is encouraging residents to take advantage of the program this October.

"Council received more than 2,400 unwanted mattresses and ensemble bases during last year's drop-off events, meaning valuable steel, timber, and foam was recycled," said Clr Watton.

"I'm pleased this opportunity to keep our region clean and sustainable is once again being offered to the local community."

Visit the 'Disposal of other household waste' section of Council's website for more information.
