Drowning Near Tweed Heads

A man has died after being pulled from the water at Kingscliff on the Far North Coast yesterday.

About 4pm (Tuesday 24 February 2026), emergency services were called to Kingscliff Beach following reports a man had gone missing in the water.

Officers attached to Tweed Heads Marine Area Command commenced a search of the area with the assistance of the Westpac Helicopter.

A short time later, police retrieved the man, commenced first aid, and transported him to the Water Police Station.

NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the man; however, he died at the scene.

While yet to be formally identified, the man is believed to be aged in his 50s.

Police have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
