Drug arrest Tennant Creek

A 31-year-old woman will face charges after she was found in possession of a trafficable amount of drugs in Tennant Creek yesterday.

Members of the Southern Traffic Operations Unit and the Tennant Creek Crime Unit conducted a roadside search of a vehicle 20km east along the Barkly Highway around 3pm yesterday, Northern Territory Police say.

It is alleged Police located 471 grams of Cannabis, 1.24grams of amphetamines and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.

A 31-year-old woman from Queensland who was a passenger in vehicle was charged with one count each of Possess a Trafficable Amount of Cannabis and Possess Amphetamine and has been bailed to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court tomorrow.

The driver, a 54-year-old woman from Queensland was issued a Notice to Appear after returning a positive test for Drug Driving.

Detective A/Sergeant Karl Gundersen said the arrest was a positive outcome for local authorities and a major dent in the supply of drugs within the region.
