Drug charges in Rozelle

A man has been charged with drug offences after his car cut off an unmarked police car in Sydney’s inner west today, NSW Police say.

About 12pm today, officers from Ryde were travelling along Balmain Road, Rozelle, in an unmarked police vehicle when another car turned from a side street into their path, causing them to brake heavily to avoid a collision.

Police stopped the Subaru Liberty at a service station in nearby Victoria Road and spoke with the driver before searching his car.

Inside the car’s front footwell, police located almost 2kg of cannabis with an estimated potential street value of $12,000.

The 49-year-old man was placed under arrest and taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 12 December 2016.
