Drug charges, Mt Carbine

Four men have been charged following the location and seizure of a significant cannabis crop near Mt Carbine on the weekend, Queensland Police say.

Officers from the Far North District Drug Squad executed a search warrant on a Mulligan Highway property just before 1pm on Saturday and detained four men who were allegedly engaged in processing of harvested cannabis.

Officers seized nearly 800 mature cannabis plants from two growing plots as well as approximately 80 kilograms of dried cannabis at the well-equipped campsite.

A 40-year-old from Dimbulah, 43-year-old from Mareeba, 50-year-old from Atherton and 57-year-old Bartle Frere man were each charged with production of a dangerous drug and possession of a dangerous drug.

They are due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on November 14.
