Drug charges, Park Avenue

A man has been charged with a number of serious offences after he was successfully tracked by a police dog after allegedly fleeing from a vehicle in possession of drugs last night., Queensland Police say

Around 11.15pm, North Rockhampton police intercepted a vehicle on Highway Street before the male driver allegedly got out and fled into a nearby residential yard.

Following initial enquiries, police had a reasonable suspicion that the man had run off in the possession of dangerous drugs.

After being tracked by the Dog Squad, it will be alleged that the man had ran through several backyards, a storm water drain and creek land before crossing Glenmore Road.

The man was then sighted allegedly trying to run off from the car port of a Glenmore Road home.

Police Dog Troll was deployed and assisted officers in taking the man into custody.

A search revealed the man allegedly in possession of a quantity of Ice, cannabis and cash.

Police provided first aid to the man before he was transported to the Rockhampton Base Hospital for treatment of a puncture and laceration to the lower left leg.

A 27-year-old West Rockhampton man has been charged with four counts of trespass, two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs (Schedule 1) and possessing dangerous drugs, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of a an offence under Drugs Misuse Act, possess utensils and obstruct police.

He has been bailed with an undertaking to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 22.
