Drug driver Getz court

Police got more than they bargained for after seizing drugs and weapons during a routine intercept in Prahran, Victoria Police say.

Prahran officers were patrolling Irving Avenue when they came across a Hyundai Getz about 1.25am.

The car was double parked, with the driver attempting to wave officers around before they intercepted it.

It’s understood police located quantities of ice, heroin, MDMD, speed, ecstasy, phenylbutazone, cocaine and prescription medication.

Police also located a firearm and ammunition.

The driver and sole occupant, a 33-year-old man of no fixed place of address, was charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possessing multiple drugs of dependence and trafficking drugs of dependence.

He is due to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
