Drug driving in Newborough

Police have charged a woman after she was allegedly found driving in possession of and under the influence of drugs in Newborough this morning, Victoria Police say.

Latrobe Highway Patrol officers were patrolling along John Field Drive when they made a routine intercept about 11.20am.

The suspended probationary driver, a 28-year-old woman, returned a positive preliminary oral fluid test for methamphetamine.

The vehicle and driver were searched, with a quantity of alleged drugs and an amount of cash seized, as well as a small knife.

The Morwell woman had her vehicle impounded at a cost of $1143 and was charged with a range of offences including:

-Traffick drug of dependence

-Possess drug of dependence

-Drive whilst suspended

-Possess proceeds of crime

-Handle stolen goods

-Possess dangerous article

She was remanded to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
