Drug, firearm and explosives charges in , QLD

The Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) have arrested and charged two men after a search warrant was executed in Palmwoods yesterday, Queensland Police say.

The search warrant was executed at an address on Toby Court yesterday morning where it will be alleged they located a large quantity of drugs, including methylamphetamine, cannabis and heroin.

It will be further alleged that officer located a number of firearms, ammunition and an explosive device at the property.

Officers from the Explosives Ordinance Response Team (EORT) attended the property and safely detonated the device at the scene.

A 34-year-old Palmwoods man has been charged with a number of charges including five counts of possession of a dangerous drug, six counts of unlawful possession of weapons and one count each of possession of explosives, possession of tainted property and possession of tainted property.

He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

A 35-year-old Coolum Beach man has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of weapons and one count each of unlawful deposition of explosives and possession of a utensil.

He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates on July 30.
